I had the privilege to stay at Tiger Muay Thai Camp in Chalong, Phuket during parts of the winter seasons in the years 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2018. Over these years, I witnessed the remarkable development of the camp itself, as well as the surrounding area of Soi Ta-ied. The transformation was impressive—new training facilities, upgraded accommodations, and a vibrant community of fighters and trainers. I must admit, I grew very fond of this place, not only because of the intense and disciplined training I received but also due to the welcoming atmosphere and the sense of camaraderie that permeates the entire camp.Lessons at Tiger Muay Thai CampThe training at Tiger Muay Thai Camp is diverse and tailored to all levels, from beginners to seasoned fighters. The camp offers a wide range of lessons including traditional Muay Thai techniques, cardio and strength conditioning, pad work, sparring sessions, and even specialized classes such as clinching and knee strikes. For those interested in mixed martial arts, there are also BJJ, wrestling, and MMA training sessions. The trainers are highly experienced, many of whom are former fighters, and they emphasize discipline, technique, and safety. There are truly excellent yoga lessons every morning and evening.Trips and excursions on non-training daysWhen not training, there are numerous exciting trips and excursions around Phuket that can complement your stay at Tiger Muay Thai Camp, and second part of this book covers these. You can explore the stunning beaches such as Nai Harn, Kata, and Patong, which are perfect for relaxation, swimming, and water sports. For a cultural experience, visits to the Big Buddha, Wat Chalong, and Old Phuket Town provide insight into the island’s rich history and local traditions. Adventure seekers can go on jungle treks, visit waterfalls like Kathu or Bang Pae, or take boat trips to nearby islands such as Phi Phi Islands or James Bond Island.
